About the Author
Margaret H. Sibley, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health in the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University, where she leads a specialty clinic devoted to delivering the STAND approach. A clinical psychologist and member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, Dr. Sibley works closely with community mental health agencies and schools to enhance professional practices for teens and families. She has written numerous journal articles on ADHD and has been the principal investigator on several studies evaluating how to engage families of teens in successful therapy. She is a recipient of the Young Scientist Award from Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD) and of fellowships from the Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation and the American Psychological Foundation, among other honors.

I am a LMFTA and will work with clients of this nature. This book was recommended and what I have read thus far, it appears it will be a good resource for me and the clients that I work with. The book came on time.
This book is a great resource for clinicians working with teens and families with executive function issues. It’s clearly organized and easy to follow. The worksheets are uncomplicated and target specific areas of need (e.g., Building a daily routine, Time-Management Contract, Study Plan, etc), while the underlying therapy focuses on how to motivate teens and families who struggle with these skills. The author incorporates both empirical evidence as well as her own clinical experience as the foundation for the treatment presented. She offers practical strategies for working with difficult to engage adolescents and families. The case examples ring true to families I have worked with and the tools are a useful resource for mental health professionals.
This book provides much-needed guidance to understanding and facilitating therapy with adolescents with ADHD. Developmentally appropriate and motivation-building activities make this therapy approach a winner. The book is organized in a way that would be convenient to use for the busy, practicing clinician. Case-examples are realistic and really highlight how to use the various modules.
This is a very intelligent researcher and a good writer. I look forward to future works from her.
