This is my first time purchasing Llewellyn's Witch's datebook, and I feel as if I have wasted my money.I purchased both Llewellyn's Daily Planetary Guide and the Witch's Datebook, and the Planetary Guide is a MUCH more detailed, comprehensive guide to plainning your magical year. The Witch's Datebook contains very little information- info on the current moon phase and sign, a daily color, Moon Void of Course, which days to plant and harvest, and which phase the moon is in. It also contains short paragraphs on various subjects, including crystal lore, spells, and Sabbat info. The beginnin of the book also features a handful of articles.The Daily Planetary Guidebook, however, features a host of information, including the basics of astrology, adpects, moon phases, the moon through the signs, eclipse dates, retrogrades, various planetary phenomena, and a business guide. It is much broader and you really get your money's worth, far more so than with this one.If you want a daily planner then I suggest finding a good quality one that isn't this. There isn't very much space for daily planning within either book anyway- unless you have a led pencil and write very, very small. You have about an inch or two, so that's it.Save your money and purchase "Llewellyn's 2017 Daily Planetary Guide"

I was given the 2016 version as a gift and l really loved it. i wanted next years so i purchased this one for myself. This version is just as good, it looks like it has more information on stones than recipes this time which I appreciate because I collect stones and many of the recipes were not useful to me due to dietary constraints.The plastic spiral binding isn't the best in the world but at least its not wire that catches on everything. Eventually one end broke off but it was easily manageable and the thing really took a lot of abuse in my bag before that happened.There is no monthly calendar spread. The days are not lined and they are set up with one week between two pages. Monday through Friday is on the left and on the right there is a picture or a passage (on an upcoming holiday/event/moon or a stone/ritual/recipe) with Saturday and Sunday below it. some days have random little tips about incenses, stones, other materials, i've even seen some about the moon and gods/goddesses. there are symbols that mark whether its a planting day or harvesting day, it also gives daily information on the moon phases, sun signs, color of the day, etc.You can see an example of the weekly spreads if you click "look Inside" on the photo of the cover and go towards the end of the preview.

The pages are heavy, almost cardstock, so they hold up under a pen. The information inside is beautifully laid-out in an easy to refer-to style. The writing flows beautifully without being too evasive. The spiral notebook style (my favorite feature) makes looking at a date easier than the delicious recipes inside!

I get this every year because they kept my suggestion of including the Astro Crossquarter for Imbolc, Beltane, Lammas and Samhain where the calendar stopped.I will purchase every year until Llewellyn hopefully comes out with it to sync with one's calendar app.

Although I am not wiccan, (Norse Pagan if you will)This is a cool little book! I just wish I had known about it at the start of the year! It has cool little articles and recipes! Plus it helps me keep track of the moon! It's a really neat little thing.

This is such a neat little Wiccan/astrological book! Does NOT MEAN YOU ARE A WITCH by buying it! There is a whole date book in here by month, moon phases, astrological signs and even planting/harvesting schedule with the passing days! Cute sayings and little prayers/(they call spells or chants) this book can be precieved in MANY WAYS by how you read it. I like positive energies and am into stones and astrological signs, there's no WITCHCRAFT like you would think... I believe it to be of Wiccan which is embracing nature, not evil! Just a handy day planner even has 2018 calander in it!!!

I have been using this datebook since the late 90's. It is by far my favorite, spiral bound with lots of space to write on each day. It also lets me know what's going on with the moon and planets as well as alerting me to holidays I may not be familiar with. There is also folklore and recipes and beautiful illustrations, too.

I usually get wall calendars, but opted for the datebook version this year, and I am already in love with it! The format makes it easy to keep track of mundane chores such as paying bills and keeping appointments and deadlines in-mind, as well as to document spiritual rites and rituals. Peppered throughout the datebook are illustrations, short essays, planetary and magickal correspondences, and little hints, tips, and tricks. These little vignettes serve as a daily reminder of spirit which I appreciate and enjoy. One note is to keep abreast of the moon phases in this calendar, as the dates for the Dark Moon (represented as the New Moon in this datebook) are not accurate - the rest of the lunar phases (full, first, and last quarters) represented in the datebook are correct as listed.

I have always loved the Llewellyn's datebooks. They are chock full of so much information! When I look through them, I always find something inspiring: a new recipe, a historical fact I never knew before (they are tucked into the dates - nice little surprises throughout the year!), sometimes even some other nice little treats I wasn't expecting. There's just always something new in there, at least that has been my experience. I also love the size - perfectly sized to fit in a purse or messenger bag, even a "trapper keeper" (remember those?!). ;) This has always been the go-to datebook for me.

I bought this for my son because I believe the greatest gift we can give a child is self reliance. In the days of enabling this book is timely and will help infuse the independence that every child needs to survive. The basic concepts of self trust, self acceptance and embracing individuality. I love the fluidity of Emerson. He was already one of my favorites but this book really resonates with me and many levels. It is my mission to raise my son and daughter with these ideas that will sustain them when I'm gone. "Nothing will bring you peace but yourself" RWE

It is difficult to write a review that is worthy of the greatness of this book. Poetically written, each essay is uniquely beautiful. It astonishes me to read a book from so long ago that is still so relevant today. I wish I could go back and have conversations with Emerson and Thoreau. Imagine the conversations they had with each other! It took me a while to read this, but it was important to me to take my time and understand each point he was making. This is the kind of book that one should reference throughout life. Emerson reminds us to trust in our soul above everything and let its force shine through. Only then will our lives have meaning.

Give this as a gift to your favorite nonconformist, the person who is unique and walks to their own drummer. It will make it easier for them to breathe in this world.

I've not been an avid reader most of my life. At 70 years and now retired I'm trying to catch up and have a strong desire to read the classics which have deep insights into life. This was not an easy book for me to read -- I read it slowly and tried to digest each chapter. There were several occasions where I got it! It took some effort I my part and I'm pleased I read it. I look forward to reading others by Emerson..

Paperback version is bad. How can amazon sell this without checking first ?- page numbers are in random places on the page, not in the footer; looks like it was printed from a html- chapter title starts on the last row of the page- the book ends abruptly in the middle of the sentence,- not all chapters from the table of contents are in the book!

There are very few writers who have ever imparted more wisdom I so few words. If Thomas Jefferson is the spirit of America then Ralph Waldo Emerson was its soul. A person who reads the words of Emerson cannot help but be haunted by the feeling of an eternal season of spring infused with the eternal sadness of life's inevitable end. Emerson is required reading for all thoughtful men and women. This particular book is excellent and no one looking to purchase Emerson's work in the kindle format should hesitate to purchase it.

I had this on my wish list for a couple of years, and was really looking forward to it. I have bought many Dover Thrift editions before, but beware. It is completely the luck of the draw. Some are very nice, and usable. Others are like, well, this one. I may try to read it, but also may just consent to find a more user friendly copy. Sorry Dover...love you guys! Being a teacher of 40 years now, I enjoyed the entire story. It's always inspiring and motivational to me when a gifted teacher is recognized for the great work they do in the classroom, and, in this case, on the stage. I like how the teacher, Lou Volpe, continue to develop his drama program in a struggling and troubled high school into the premier high school drama program in the country. It was refreshing to read the drama program being the most desired program for students to enter at Truman High School. It was doubly meaningful the author of the book was a former student in the Truman High School drama program and returned to write about the program and the beloved teacher who led it for 44 years. I've never been a teacher at any school for longer than 10 years, so it was eye opening reading experience for me to see how a dedicated teacher spends most of his adult life and entire career at one school. I recommend this book to all those teachers thinking about leaving the profession due to burnout and those people considering education as their chosen profession.

I've had the privilege of seeing several of Mr. Volpe's plays at Truman, and for most years his productions had more meaningful artistic content than many of the productions in professional regional theatre. The story is compelling (I read the book in one - long - sitting) and the message of what Lou achieved with these 'blue collar' kids is relevant anywhere in the world. ALL kids from all backgrounds are capable of greatness as long as those kids have someone who believes in them, and have gifted teachers and motivating parents. Read this book, then find a way to stimulate greatness in education within your own community. Also, can't wait to see the NBC TV series based on this book, in the Fall of 2017.

"Drama High" is an enthralling read. I highly recommend it. Writer Michael Sokolove has placed layer upon layer of brilliant writing into this work. Headline writers have tabbed this book to be about a "real-life 'Glee'" or "'Glee' meets 'Friday Night Lights'." Those are too pithy and don't do justice to the book's impressive scope, depth and emotional resonance.Ostensibly, Sokolove's book is a paean to his former teacher, Lou Volpe, retiring after four decades at his post as drama teacher at Harry S Truman High School in Levittown, PA. This is a work of sensitivity, compassion, and love: three aspects that are mandatory in successful, inspiring teaching. This is a remarkable and unexpected story of a high school where the drama program is not only successful, it's the MOST successful thing in the school, maybe the town. If you don't believe in the value of theater in high schools, you will after reading this (but let's be honest you probably won't read this). At times the author inserts himself into the narrative too much for my taste, but that calms down after the beginning. He does also get a couple of basic facts about musicals wrong (including the one he sat through hours of rehearsal for) that make me question some of the stuff I can't personally fact check, but I'm nit-picking. The epilogue had me crying on the subway.

I would love to see more like this. Penntdell magazine has a wonderful puzzle called Picture Maze. It is found in the Official Variety Puzzle magazine. Could you make a book with this type of puzzle?

Purchased for adult. I found this coloring book quite boring. When I ordered it, I was expecting the picture to be a mystery but it's not that at all.Also, you should be aware that the paper is similar to a children's coloring book with a newspaper feel. My Stabilo markers bled through.

Love that the pages are thick enough that they dont bleed through to the next image. I had been looking for something similar to the picture mazes that are in the variety puzzles (dell). This book is perfect!!

Wow! I am really enjoying this book! With just one color, you can make an animal picture come to life! I really enjoyed how I did not have to worry about changing colors, finding the right shade, or coloring too much of one color and not enough of another. It really took the “heavy thinking” out and allowed me to simply just enjoy coloring. I colored while watching TV, listening to music or a podcast, and spending time with family. I have gotten into a routine of doing a picture every night before I go to sleep, as it really helps me wind down (sometimes so much so that it is hard to drag myself away!).I used a fresh set of markers on each picture, which allowed my color to glide as it came out. Even though I made some marks outside of the lines on accident, you couldn’t tell from the finished product, which also makes this book less stressful and more relaxing. Each page is backed with a black page, which minimizes bleeding through. I did have a page to catch the bleeding, which accumulated the equivalent of “confetti” on it. This could have been because my markers were new and quite saturated, but regardless, I didn’t mind the small bleeding because I always color with a page underneath just in case.My small caution is to be careful about coloring on the left side of the page, up against the previous page. I accidentally angled my marker so it bled onto the black page, which caused bleeding on the page I previously colored. When I realized that, I just made sure that I held the black page out further and colored just on the page I was currently on, and I didn’t experience any bleeding on the previous page.The paper stayed down nicely as I colored - it didn’t curl up like markers sometimes do with other coloring pages I have. I really appreciated that!There is a list of animals on the front page, as well as a picture of each finished picture on the back. This was fun to be able to see what all the book covers and what I will be doing in the future. Each page took over an hour, sometimes several. This was nice because I could see progress as I colored, but didn’t feel like I was flying through the book all in one night. I think it’s a good value for the price!Overall, I would highly recommend this book to everyone I know (and already have to my family and friends)! I will definitely be purchasing other books in the one color series. I think they are very unique and exciting, as well as relaxing!

This book is Sunlife's newest. Combining dots and squiggly lines to provide hours of enjoyment in revealing 25 new animal designs such as my giraffe pictured here. All designs have black on the back. You can use fineliners and ultra fine pt markers. Please place protection behind the picture you are working on. Even if the medium you are using doesn't bleed through, you are applying pressure with fineliners which can show impressions on the page below. So I thoroughly enjoy this. It still amazes me how coloring lines or dots or both result in these incredible pictures. I am sure you will enjoy it, too.

I have the other Lines & Dots books by this author, but I'm really liking this one. It has a combination of lines and dots that are not in straight lines so it breaks it up a little as compared to the other books in the series. I use Sharpies with these books and they work very well as long as you put some extra paper behind the pages to keep it from bleeding onto the next page. This is a very fun, relaxing book to "color" and I hope the author comes out with more books like this. Love it!

Out of all the editions of lines and dots books, I think this one is my favorite! Don’t get me wrong, I love them all but I love the combination of lines and dots together! You can use just one color, or try something different and add multiple colors. I definitely recommend these books for relaxation and overall fun!

Another great book from Molly Ostertag! This was a really good sequel to The Witch Boy and my kids have reread both over and over.I loved it too. The compassion in this book was moving. I also loved seeing Aster come into his own as a witch.My kids and I hope there are more books about these characters

My daughter and I read this in two sittings. I can't believe we liked this book better than the first one, which was already awesome. This story is really sweet. There are bad things that happen, but we loved the way the characters are all so supportive of each other. In life, everyone is different, in his own way and the world is a better place when everyone can be accepted as they are.

I'm tired as a I write this, but yeah. This book is supes cool with all that jazz with also its magic shiz too.Fun magic story 'bout a boy who likes doin' girly shiz. the deutragonist is a girl who broke her leg. She loves to go against her gender norms by being all about sports. This sucks for her though cuz she got an issue keeping her from doin' it.Could have used more visits to ice cream store for my taste.

I liked this book because it leaves you with a cliffhanger. What I don't like about it is that I don't know if their is going to be another book.I would recommend this book read people who like witches and graphic novels.😊😊😊😊😊😛😜😝😋❤💙💚💛💝💗💖💟💜👍💞

What a talented writer! Great images, too. The story continues, and we just want to get to know all the characters even more.

While I adore the first book, its nice to see other characters added to the cast and others getting more development. Her art has improved as well! If there is ever a third, I'll definitely buy it too.

I was so happy to learn that this got a sequel. This is such a great story. Can't wait for 3 :)
