Love walking on Alta’s dark side. I always get a little nervous going into the dark romance books. I am never quite sure what to expect. But this...this book I craved after I finished reading it. This book is so well written I felt like I was reading a book of dark poems.Let’s not forget the story. Harley is one of the most intriguing heroes I’ve read in a while. The dynamic between him and Marlowe was seductive. It made me want and crave more of these characters.I have not read the first book in this series but was able to follow along fine. But believe me after reading this one, I’m definitely going back to read the first book. I am so glad I drank from the top shelf.
This is a hard book to review. SPOILERS ahead!! I figured out the twist as it was happening. Harley DID state to Marlowe that she would hate him by the end of the week end. What he did was beyond unforgivable. There is the letter of the law (or contract) and there is the spirit of the law (or contract). Harley broke the spirit of the contract while holding to the letter of the contract. Why would Marlowe not believe what was happening was real? Harley was a paid assassin for Gods, sake. He had enemies who would want to hurt him through harming "his woman". If something like that happened to me, I would never be able to forgive the person. Marlowe just caved in after a day. I don't know, I just can't see that happening. I had bought the first two books in this series when they first came out. I don't know if I'll continue. At least not at this point, maybe later. Too many other books on my kindle. Four frustrated stars on this one. âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸
Where do I start? So much great stuff in this book, whew! Okay, first off, if you are expecting the everyday romance with wine, roses, and chocolates you can just go ahead and throw that idea out the window, this is so much more! I loved Harley with the glimpses we read in book one, the man who just does not give AF. Seriously. And I couldn't wait for his story and here it is and was so much better than I thought it could/would be. I was sorry to see it end, I would have happily read much more... This is book two but it reads as a standalone. That being said, if you haven't read book one, why not?, and enjoy the heck out of book two. I received this as an ARC from the author, the honest review is mine and I bought my own copy so I would have it forever. Quit reading here! Read the book!
