About the Author
Wynter Pitts is the author of several books, including You’re God’s Girl! She is the founder of For Girls Like You, a bimonthly magazine that equips girls to walk boldly into who God has created them to be and to resource their parents to raise strong Christ-following God girls who say yes to His plans for their lives. Wynter tragically passed from death to life on July 24, 2018, after 15 years of marriage to her beloved Jonathan. Jonathan Pitts is an author, speaker, and executive pastor at Church of the City in Franklin, TN. Prior to pastoring, Jonathan was executive director at The Urban Alternative, the national ministry of Dr. Tony Evans in Dallas, Texas. Jonathan lives in Franklin, Tennessee with his four daughters.

I feel like I this read was valuable, relatable and challenging at the same time. Wynter and Jonathan write in a way that feels like you are chatting with friends face to face about marriage and the hardships related to it. They center the entire book around the gospel and how their marriage is a reflection of Christ's love. Refreshing and a needed reminder for me. I was also challenged by the reflection and prayer sections at the end of each chapter, it feels like a natural way to learn HOW to live a poured out marriage by examining your own hear and going to the Lord first. I plan on rereading soon!
As a newly married wife, this book was encouraging and much needed. Biblically based advice, very real and even entertaining! A must read!!
This is an honest and beautiful tale of a marriage I so respect and admire. So thankful they captured this story for all of us to learn from. It points us all to God and his power and love.
I thought the book title was powerful and assumed it's contents would be too. Highly disappointed and couldn't wait to finish reading it. It lacked depth and application. I really had high expectations for this book and it simply disappointed. I wish I was rating this differently.If you do plan to read it, I recommend borrowing it from the library not not purchasing it. My purchased copy will be donated to my local library. It is not a keeper for me.
A must read!
The writing is easy to follow but more importantly the message is very timely given how marriage are falling apart these days. Good old gospel mixed with their own personal experiences makes for a relatable read. I'll recommend this for every reading demographic out there but most importantly for those who are new in their marital journey and still struggling with laying aside the "ME-driven" selfishness and stubbornness in favor of a more accommodating service mindset that honors their spouse and honors God!I am glad the Pitts got to work on this last project before Wynter's passing to life! A true emptying indeed!
This book is a really good read for couples married or not.
Emptied: Experiencing the Fullness of a Poured-Out Marriage, was written to show us we are doing some things right, to improve on things we are doing, and to start doing some things that will improve a marriage even if it's a good marriage. Written from the perspective of a husband and wife, the book is one that needs to be re-read and absorbed again. Thank you for pouring yourselves into this book!
