Primarily fiction about Bass Reeves as a young man with several unnecessary comments thrown in to show author has acceptable political thoughts. Skips giving any details about how Bass Reeves became a successful rancher and fairly bare bones recital of a few of his exploits as a federal marshall. Don’t recommend as a way to learn about Bass Reeves.

Nice easy read. Obviously though the author embellished alot of his earlier life which im not sure how I feel about honestly.....especially the earlier cringe worthy dialogue of him talking to his mother in a faux african american slave dialect supposedly...however luckily after the book progressed beyond that it was a good read. Still baffled though that many of the more unbelievable yet true amazing facts about the man didnt make it into this book. Which is weird because I'd have taken that over the made up b.s backstory that was added. Any beef I have with the book would be just that. Other than that gripe (which can be major depending on what youre expecting from the book) its entertaining and a nice introduction to a great man....However its not the best historical representation of he and his feats but serves as decent intro to someone who is just learning about him or for someone younger such as school children. I read it in one night.

The author claims Bass was born in 1824, 14 years earlier than other accounts. He also Bass running away 20 years before the Civil War while other non-fiction accounts claim he ran away during the Civil War. Three pages into the book it claims that this book is a work of fiction and any resemblance to any person living or dead is a coincidence. What a waste of time and money.

A fine book for preteens and younger. The author has a unique agenda. He in the first chapter belittle all the great names of the Old West as a variety of scoundrels and village idiots all of them being caucasian Americans. Then in his book with 30% of it a sheer fantasy he tries to explain how Bass Reeves became one of the greatest lawmen in the West. I agree with all the factual data about this awesome and amazing Afro-American deputy marshal and his fantastic reputation. Definitely a character that was overlooked by history because of race.

A great unsung hero given his due. A great snapshot of his difficult early life as a young slave and son of a slave in early 1800s NE Texas. Geared toward Young Adult readers but adults will love it. Only drawback: Wishing there was enough of his story known to make a longer more details book. For African-American dads this is a great book to help you talk to your children about the topic of slavery and what kind of man should be a role model for black males.

The thing they don't tell you about black history, you can build a new world

Saw the special about him on the History channel. Got this for my husband who was interested in learning more. As he is a non-reader I was surprised and thrilled to see him avidly reading. He enjoyed it and is almost finished. It's not a thick book and is full of interesting bits.

This paperback was great. it gave an insight on a man that before this year, I didn't know existed. In the book, I can see not only the reference to the "Lone Ranger" but I feel that Mr. Clint Eastwood may have read up on Bass Reeves before "Hang Em High". I intend to find out more on this BLACK U.S. Marshall.

Review

“The most frightening American poet ever--phallus-man, hangman of political barbarism--Seidel is the poet the twentieth century deserved.” ―Calvin Bedient, Boston Review“He radiates heat. It is apparent that he has asked himself frightful questions and has not dodged the implications of their equally frightful answers . . . A master of metaphor.” ―Louise Bogan, The New Yorker“Beguiling and magisterial.” ―Joel Brouwer, The New York Times Book Review“Profoundly beautiful . . . The writer willing to say the unsayable.” ―Philip Connors, n+1“The best verse out of the United States since whenever.” ―Joe Fiorito, The Toronto Star“Among the two or three finest poets writing in English.” ―Alex Halberstadt, New York“[Final Solutions] seems to me one of the most moving and powerful books of poetry to have come along in years.” ―Anthony Hecht, The New York Review of Books“Area Code 212 [is] our new Waste Land, as monitory and radical . . . as Eliot's poem was in 1922.” ―George Held, The Philadelphia Inquirer“A triumphant outsider in American poetry . . . He takes risks utterly unthinkable, even as merely mutinous provocation, in an academic workshop.” ―Ernest Hilbert, Contemporary Poetry Review“[Life on Earth] is an exemplary book . . . One of the best by an American poet in the past twenty years.” ―Michael Hofmann, The Times Literary Supplement“One of the world's most inspired and unusual poets . . . His poems are a triumph of cosmic awe in the face of earthly terror.” ―Hillel Italie, USA Today“In American poetry today there is no one with Frederick Seidel's sheer ambition, comprehensive sense of our times, sophistication, nerve and skill . . . One of the most vital and important poets we have.” ―Lawrence Joseph, The Nation“The excellent table manners combined with a savage display of appetite: this is what everyone notices in Seidel. Yet he wouldn't be so special or powerful a poet of what's cruel, corrupt, and horrifying had he not also lately shown himself to be a great poet of innocence.” ―Benjamin Kunkel, Harper's Magazine“In the desert of contemporary American poetry, Frederick Seidel's work awaits the weary reader like an oasis.” ―James Lasdun, The Guardian“Here is the new kind of visionary, the person who really wants to change the world fast, the person who believes in something.” ―Adam Phillips, Raritan“Frederick Seidel is a ghoul, and he has produced this nascent century's finest collection of English poems.” ―Michael Robbins, Chicago Review“Frederick Seidel, for fifty years and across ten collections, has been writing our most serious, beautiful, and essential poems, poems that are shocking in their art and astonishing in their truth, and that remind us, in their forms, why poetry was once a vital part of cultural life” ―Wyatt Mason, Harper's "Weekend Read"

That's the title this book ought to have (as in "Being John Malkovich"), because Seidel's poems grab you so quickly it's like being sucked into someone else's consciousness at warp-speed. Once you've accustomed yourself to your new surroundings -- vast wealth, swank hotels, gorgeous women, bespoke suits, transatlantic flights in first class -- you will almost certainly be fascinated. Like another great American poet of the last half-century, James Merrill, Seidel inherited vast wealth and has repaid it by writing a great many poems that are unlike anyone else's.It could be argued that almost his entire literary output is a sly send-up of the tired "creative writing" mantra, "Write What You Know." And what Seidel knows, despite his leftist politics, is the world of the "1 %." What's more he's only to happy to show it to you, whether he's having dinner at the Carlyle, spending time with the CEO of Ducati (he's a motorcycle fanatic), or seducing a girl decades younger.Whether or not Seidel is a "great" poet, I don't know, even in subjective terms, not having read him for long enough to fully gauge my own reactions. But he's a welcome change from the usual workshop-fodder filed under "contemporary poetry." Bold, technically daring, highly intelligent and often deliberately outrageous, Seidel is capable of deep feeling, tenderness, and refinement as well as shock value. Whatever you think of him, he's not a poet who goes in one ear and out the other. Just don't expect him to be "nice" all the time.

can't believe he's not more well known. best book i've read in a long time, let alone in poetry genre. not all the works are great but there are a lot of titles to choose from. stark turns of phrase and trains of thought that will punch you in the gut, the heart, or the groin.

Frederick Seidel has firmly established himself over the last decade as the enfant terrible of the international poetry community, and in so doing, has undoubtedly experienced the greatest late-career flowering of talent since Wallace Stevens. Yet he has none of the characteristic reserve and formalism of that lone peer (with all due respect to Stevens). Ezra Pound at his most irascible, Ogden Nash in his few moments of relevance, the cool scrutiny of the confessional poets--these are Seidel's touchstones. He is more apt to write a dirty limerick than an epic, more familiar with luxury and splendor than the cliché poetic squalor. In fact, with his immense wealth and jetsetting acquaintances, he seems to be working in the opposite direction of modern poetry. Which is exactly where his skill shines through. It is no exaggeration to call Seidel the best poet currently writing in English. No American poet has come close to his level of range and accomplishment since Robert Lowell's death in 1977. He has only been acknowledged in recent years, however, because of the oddity he represents among writers. Besides James Merrill (whose father, as a founder of Merrill-Lynch, left him an unbreakable trust fund), Seidel is the only poet of the modern era to have the aid of a private fortune to support him. This has allowed him not only ease of publication (with Farrar, Strauss, Giroux, no less) but the liberty of writing with absolute honesty. His sarcasm and viciousness have led some to call him the Hannibal Lecter of the literary world, a comparison as short-sighted as it is predictable. "I want to date-rape life," he begins one poem, not only satirizing a culture that produces date-rape but the Whitmanesque joy for life. In another, he compares his glass of Haut-Brion to a crystal pistol, the barrel of which he's sucking "to get a bullet to [his] brain." Yet these are only excerpts (and oft-quoted ones at that). Seidel's work is full of memorable and grotesque images, all anchored by an ear formally trained in the modernist tradition. His collections of the decade from 1998 to 2008 are unlike anything else in all poetry, most resembling J.G. Ballard's dystopian fictions of ultra-modernity and decay. Frederick Seidel, as one reviewer has noted, is the poet the twentieth century deserved, and, one might add, the one the twenty-first needs. All excess, all right-wing insanity, are self-parodying for the conscientious man who has them at his fingertips. His is a fight against complacency, our slobbering at the breast of consumerism. "Anything," Seidel writes, "is better than this/Bliss."

It is always a treat to see what happens to a poet's work over a long time and this book does that well. Frederick Seidel is not for every reader. Some poems are too dense for most readers, including me. But his use of words take leaps into the unknown that are pleasing and challenging. This is a worthwhile addition to any poetry collection.

If you're a Lad and always thought that poetry was too highbrow and for snooty literary types, then you're wrong. Seidel has bridged the gap between Lads and the snooty literary types. If you like luxury and beautiful young women then this book of poetry is for you. Katie

Be aware even though the publication date is 2018, the material does not cover the new tools, such as Puppet Warp and the new Properties Panelin Adobe Illustrator CC 2018. I haven't look at the other programs but I can safely say they are the also the previous versions....very disappointed...not sure whether I will send it back or not

Great Book! Highly recommend if you are learning Adobe package.

Easy to understand and apply.

I suppose I should have read closer. I just assumed the new edition would have dreamweaver included. That was the main part I needed.

I spent $28.00 on this paperback book and the back cover was torn.

So first things first. This book really has a lot of information. You may not need all the information, but this is handy for those times you use something once in a blue moon. I don't know about you, but I can't remember it all.Of course it was published in 2017 so it is already out-of-date. That's a problem in technology's fast lane. Aside from that, this book is very helpful for a newbie. It also gives some insights into some of the more challenging aspects of the Adobe suite. It's a good book to have on hand if you need info on the go.

Finally a book (large) that covers Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, In Design, Illustrator, Acrobat and Adobe XD. Although it's a lot of information crammed into one book, I find it helpful to be able to lookup a function that I don't use all the time. Being so large, it's a bit cumbersome to use and it takes some time to learn how it's organized. Covers a lot of the basic, beginner information but also delves into some of the more complex tasks. It's by no means a complete guide that covers every tool and function, but I think it does a good job in putting a lot of information in one book that you can keep near your computer for easy lookup as the need arises. I think it's a worthwhile purchase for the beginner to intermediate user of CC. Keep in mind though that is a printed book and will not be the most current as Adobe ads features vis updates.

Kingdom Come: The Amillennial Alternative, by Sam Storms

Review

"Sam Storms' book, Kingdom Come: the Amillennial Alternative, is a substantial work on the viability of the Amillennial perspective on eschatology, including that of the Book of Revelation.....Even those who may disagree with Storms' Amillennial approach will definitely benefit from his book." (G. K. Beale ~ Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology, Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)"Storms marshals exegetical and theological arguments in defense of his view in this wide-ranging work. Even those who remain unconvinced will need to reckon with the powerful case made for an amillennial reading. The author calls us afresh to be Bereans who are summoned to search the scriptures to see if these things are so." (Thomas R. Schreiner ~ James Buchanan Harrison Professor of New Testament Interpretation and Associate Dean, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky)"There is something in here to challenge and to encourage all of us, no matter our persuasion. I pray this book will help others in the same way it has helped me." (Justin Taylor ~ Executive vice president, Crossway Books and blogger, "Between Two Worlds", Wheaton, Illinois)Imminently readable, this is the book I would recommend on amillennialism from here on out. (Jared C. Wilson ~ Director of Content Strategy for Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Managing Editor of For The Church, Midwestern's site for gospel-centered resources.)Sam Storms' Kingdom Come is a remarkably comprehensive and informative study of eschatology from a Reformed perspective. Not only does he persuasively argue the amillennial position but he provides a clear and charitable understanding of the alternatives. On topic after topic, I marveled at Storms' sound handling and lucid teaching of difficult material. Kingdom Come is extraordinarily helpful to the student of eschatology and no Reformed library will be complete without this book. (Richard D. Phillips ~ Senior Minister, Second Presbyterian Church, Greenville, South Carolina)"...the most helpful book on the various millennial views I have seen since W. J. Grier's The Momentous Event. His work is marked by careful exegesis of pertinent texts, and ranges widely and deeply in all of the relevant Scriptural passages dealing with the end of the age." (Douglas F. Kelly ~ Professor of Theology Emeritus, Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte, North Carolina)"This is a remarkable book which will surely become the standard bearer for Amillennialism for years to come." (Kevin DeYoung ~ Senior Pastor, Christ Covenant Church, Matthews, North Carolina)

This is my first ever product review. Going to college at a highly Dispensational and Premillennial school, this topic is frequently talked about and addressed in class. I have always been unconvinced with their arguments and sought a better alternative. I have always had a strong objection with the two people's of God based on what seemed to be very clear Scripture teaching otherwise within much of the New Testament. After reading this book, it was so good that I was compelled to write this for everyone. No matter your current views on the Millennial Kingdom, Sam Storms' book will be educational and persuasive. This book is extremely timely and valuable in the midst of modern evangelicalism. Although it is assumed and taught as dogma in most evangelical churches and on TV, Storms shows us how the premillennial understanding of end times theology is not the best interpretation. Based on the entirety of the Old and New Testaments, Storms walks us through verses that clearly point to a better hermeneutical approach to the highly symbolic book of Revelation.Storms helps us understand the Millennial Kingdom in light of what numerous other Scriptures teach in a much clearer way. His approach is to understand the highly symbolic and metaphorical book of Revelation in light of the clarity of Eschatology within the New Testament. This is a clear contrast to most dispensationalists who interpret Revelation with a "literal hermeneutic" and try to make the rest of Scripture conform to their preconceived understandings of the Millennial Reign of Christ.Additionally, Storms clearly and persuasively addresses my greatest objection to Premillennialism in confronting the unbiblical doctrines of the supposed "clear distinction" between Israel and the church. Storms defends that God has always had one elect of God from the beginning of time, through Israel, and through the church age. He defends the idea that "not all Israel is Israel," as Paul writes in Romans. Clearly, there is an elect within Israel that constitutes the "one true people of God," This one true people of God, or true Israel, were the elect Jewish congregation that would become the foundation of the church. This true church, which includes the elect of Jews and Gentiles both, now constitutes the elect of God and the true Israel. Furthermore, Storms shows how Christ was the true Israel, God's true obedient Son, in whom all the elect of both Jews and Gentiles reside through the Spirit of God. Through our union with the true Israel, Christ, we are children of the promise. The book itself is beautiful. It's also over 550 pages long. Storms does a wonderful job defending a position biblically and faithfully. It will open up a door of understanding and clarity of the treasures of God's Word as seen through the lens of His covenant promises to people who are unworthy to receive them. It will also illuminate Christ as the greatest treasure and King this world has ever seen. It will also shine the light back on the cross and resurrection, where God's glory is most clearly seen by all. There, after all, is where Jesus ascended His throne until the new heavens and new earth where we will reign with Christ forever. To take our eyes and focus off the cross and work of Christ on this earth to look for an earthly Kingdom is to miss the point. God's Kingdom has come in the death and resurrection of Christ. When He returns in glory, which could be at any time, He will consummate His Kingdom in the new heavens and new earth.

The best book you can read on Christian eschatology. It is very accessible. Storms is a very scholarly man, but writes in a more popular manner. But not at the expense of academics. He comes from a dispensational background but moved to the amillennial position. He is sympathetic to the postmil/preterist view. A friend who holds to the postmil/preterist position said he thought it was one of the best summary of his position he had seen. Storms is very fair and intellectually honest. If you are a dispensationalist, as I once was, you owe it to yourself to read this.

Honest, because Storms is not driven by denominational dogma but by a consistent Biblical hermeneutic; illuminating, because in his studied way, Storms incorporates the work of other theologians as he endeavors to clear the smoke of controversy by relying on Scripture to interpret Scripture. Both these traits are important in a field where otherwise sane pastors and theologians attempt to drag in ideas that disrupt the continuity and flow of Biblical revelation. Thus the first chapter of the book begins with "the hermeneutics of eschatology," laying down five interpretive assumptions, the first being that "Jesus Christ and his Church are the focal and terminating point of all prophecy." This is central because in laying down his amillenial (or as he would more accurately term it, the "realized millennium") interpretation, Storms builds on the foundational truth that Jesus was the true temple of God, that "the Old Testament finds its consummate fulfillment in the person of Christ and his body, the Church" (16). As the book unfolds, we are prepared to contemplate in Chapter 14 the "millennium" that John describes in the Apocalypse as "concurrent with the church age in which we live and consists of the co-regency with Christ of those believers who have died" and entered into glory (423). All the major topics of eschatology are interpreted thoroughly and contextually. Most helpfully, Storms gives us a clear picture of other eschatological positions as well, especially the seemingly dominant dispensationalist view. His fair-minded scholarship and Scripture-grounded exegesis, far from muddying the waters, seems to make a path through them. I found this to be the most helpful book on the Apocalypse I've read thus far.

Ever since I first read Sam's written arguments for the amillennial view, and subsequently listened to his presentation at the "Evening of Eschatology" millennial debate, I've anxiously awaited the publication of "Kingdom Come: The Amillennial Alternative." And the book does not disappoint. While I don't personally hold to the partial-preterist interpretation of the Olivet Discourse, and while a few chapters contain what might be excessively detailed discussions of a handful of issues for some readers, "Kingdom Come" certainly takes its place among the elite books on the subject, elevating the debate to a new level. And, most importantly, it presents a very compelling case for amillennialism. In view of its publication date (2013), I only wish Sam had more to say about John MacArthur's premillennial remarks and view (especially so since the book seems to engage most with classic dispensational premillennialism), and that it had more references to and greater interaction with a wider range of top-notch amillennial works (not only Hoekema, but also Riddlebarger, Venema, Strimple, et al). Nevertheless, Sam's book does a tremendous job of exegeting the key biblical passages, and will be of great value to any student of prophetic themes. So I heartily recommend it, and suggest that readers consider it alongside Kim Riddlebarger's recently expanded edition of "A Case for Amillennialism: Understanding the End Times."

Spy: The Funny Years, by Graydon Carter Kurt Andersen

From Publishers Weekly

With equal parts nostalgia and snarkiness, this history /anthology celebrates the now legendary satirical magazine during its heyday—aka 1986 to 1991, when founders and partners Andersen (Turn of the Century and host of [PRI's] Studio 360) and Carter (editor of Vanity Fair) ran the show (the magazine folded as a monthly in 1994). "We were very lucky to catch two waves—the post-'60s ironic mood and the go-go financial mood," observes Andersen, and these pages offer plenty of opportunity to travel back to those heady days of "Separated at Birth?" and "The Spy Guide to Postmodern Everything." Those who wondered what life at Spy was really like will also be rewarded: former deputy editor Kalogerakis [...] has collected plenty of stories about minuscule paychecks, ridiculously tight budgets and bacchanalian parties (Andersen and Carter chime in with extensive annotations). Certain to be on the holiday wish lists of aging hipsters. (Nov.) Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

The type remains tiny. You'll wind up needing a fistful of non-prescription anti-inflammatories to remedy the crick in your neck after following the flow charts. And on occasion you'll lower the book, stare at the New Yorker print that's certainly on your wall and think: He was merely a short-fingered vulgarian in 1988. And now he's the "leader" of the free world. Still, at least one last time you should revel in "My Kid Could Do That," David Halbfinger's letters to the editor and ads for the Puck Building ballroom, "still the greatest place to have a party" -- and now owned by the Kushners. Sigh.

I expected a volume of selected articles and instead found that this book is a history of the magazine. I guess it's fine for people who want to know what this or that editor said one day, or how a magazine is published, but it bored me to tears. I was hoping to read articles that made the magazine memorable, not stories of the day to day lives of authors and editors. Not my cup of tea.

Funny, funny. funny!

I have several piles of old SPY magazine back issues around my house, so I suppose I am part of the ideal audience for this book, "SPY: The Funny Years." It contains a generous sampling of classic SPY articles that I recognized, as well as a few that I missed from the first few issues when I guess it wasn't very available outside New York City. The book also features a detailed history of the magazine written by former editor George Kalogerakis with notes and commentary by co-founders Graydon Carter and Kurt Andersen. You ask, "why should I buy a big, sort of expensive book about a magazine from twenty years ago?" Well, first because this book is funny as hell. Two of the first pitches of SPY were "The New Yorker crossed with the National Enquirer and David Letterman", or "MAD Magazine for grown-ups", and those are pretty good descriptions. The famous article about the Bohemian Grove is reprinted here in full, as well as Paul Rudnick and Kurt Andersen's "The Irony Epidemic" (perhaps the quintessential SPY piece), and Joe Eszterhas' flame-thrower letter to Mike Ovitz (with annotations.) The best SPY articles produced belly-laughs and cool investigative journalism at the same time. The history of the magazine included in this volume might seem a little inside to those who aren't already fans, but if you read it you will learn why SPY was probably the most influential magazine of the last twenty years, certainly since the heyday of the National Lampoon. SPY was reviewing other reviewers before blogs were even thought of, and its brand of radical skepticism towards all things media has been ripped off by VH1, E!, and every other pop culture outfit you can name. Only SPY was smart. I think I got a post-graduate education of sorts from my reading of erudite pieces like the satiric explanation of post-modernism reprinted here. (SPY was the first place I had ever heard of post-modernism, which tells you either how smart it was or how sheltered I was at the time.) Each issue demanded a lot from the reader, which is probably why it wasn't long for this world. (In a just universe, SPY would still be going strong and be universally recognized for inventing "reality" entertainment, for good and ill.)Co-founders Carter and Andersen have gone on to become solid members of the media establishment (and some would say that "Vanity Fair" editor Carter has become what he once mocked.) Old issues of SPY are avidly sought after on eBay. And "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" try to emulate SPY, not realizing that the old magazine didn't have a political agenda: it made fun of everybody. This book is a valuable keepsake for admirers of the magazine and a good introduction for those who are yet unfamiliar but are curious about the legend. Man, I sure do miss it.

Maybe the days of funny print are over but if so this book tells the tale of the glory years when Spy mag ruled the world. Some of it is dated, sure, it was of its time, but as an avid reader when it was kicking this is a glorious journey back in time. Plus it looks great. A must for short fingered vulgarians everywhere.

The greatest magazine of my youth is reprised here in book form! Anyone familiar with how wonderful and fascinating Spy magazine was back in the late 1980's should read this one. Spy broke new ground in "funny" and "ballsy" in the pre-internet age of media. Quite funny and well worth the time, though anyone not familiar with Spy probably won't get much out of it.Highly recommended for former Spy readers!

I loved Spy. I remember one issue that had autopsy reports on Jim Croce and someone else, in tiny print, in the margins. This was an outstanding magazine, too far ahead of its time to succeed. Hell, it wouldn't succeed now; way too much narcissism today for anyone to find humor in it. This book is a great tribute to a great magazine.Did anyone ever win the prize for the errors on the cover?

I thought this book would be fascinating, but it's kinda of boring. SO unlike the original magazine. THere is a lot ofwriting, but the design is so thoughtful, pretending to be chic, it's rather hard to read. The type is so small. I couldn't get though it.

Water: For Health, for Healing, for Life: You're Not Sick, You're Thirsty!, by F. Batmanghelidj

From Publishers Weekly

The author, a physician trained in Iran (Your Body's Many Cries for Water), not only believes that drinking water is healthy, but makes extravagant claims for its curative powers. He recounts here how he first discovered the healing abilities of water, when he was a political prisoner more than 20 years ago. While incarcerated, he successfully treated with plain water the stress-induced peptic ulcers that afflicted some of his fellow prisoners. According to Batmanghelidj, most people rely on dry mouth to signal thirst and as a result are seriously dehydrated. He posits that symptoms like fatigue, anxiety or depression indicate dehydration, which may result in serious conditions such as asthma, hypertension, brain damage, cancer, constipation, allergies and obesity. In order to compensate for fluid lost through urination, respiration, and perspiration, Batmanghelidj suggests drinking a minimum of two quarts of plain water daily (not alcohol, caffeine beverages or juices). In order to maintain good health, he also advises ingesting half a teaspoon of salt to balance water intake. In addition, a diet consisting of 80% fruits and vegetables and 20% protein should be followed along with an exercise program. To back up his theories, the author presents a wealth of somewhat confusing medical data as well as patient anecdotes that testify to water as a cure for various diseases. Batmanghelidj does state, however, that those diagnosed with specific conditions should not stop taking their medications abruptly, nor should they embark on a water regime until they have consulted with their physician. This controversial program will have the greatest appeal for devotees of alternative medicine. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information, Inc.

Life changing book! I have been drinking a great deal more water now for two months. I am totally blown away in the difference in the way I feel. I have so much more energy. And it's a steady kind of energy throughout the day. I have given up all coffee, tea and sodas! I just don't need the caffeine anymore. It truly is miraculous that the answer to a much healthier me was right in front of me, yet I never saw it. My lower back pain cured up and no longer burdens me! Amazing. I am so thankful. I did not realize that my back pain was coming from being so dehydrated! Get the book. You need it! And don't forget to drink lot's more water!!!!

Before I purchased this book in the Kindle format, I was not drinking near enough water each day. Instead, I was drinking Cola drinks and other soft drinks. As I have had chronic shoulder pain for many years (that comes and goes), I did not know that I may be dehydrated or that dehydration may be one of the causes for my chronic pain. So I decided to drink more water each day just to see if it would help, and my pain lessened after a couple of days of drinking more water. Still, I was not convinced that adding pure water had anything to do with this huge amount of pain lessening, yet I was curious if water had anything to do with it. Then I discovered this Kindle book and bought it and was truly amazed to realize that yes, I was dehydrated and this contributed greatly to my chronic shoulder pain. This book explains so many things about water I never knew! And it shows how water can benefit the entire body and how the lack of enough water can create health problems. This entire book was helpful for me, however, my two favorite chapters are Chapter 8 - The Crisis Calls Of Water For the Body (this chapter explains why water is needed to flush too much acid from the body, as this acid buildup cases lots of pain). Also Chapter 9 covers Dehydration and Disease - this chapter is an eye opener as it shows the many diseases (18 listed diseases) that can be possibly caused by dehydration such as Obesity, Strokes, MS, Alzheimer's Disease, Aids, Strokes (Multiple), Cancers, Heart Failure and more...This book, I have read and will continue to use as a reference book. If you are concerned with your overall health, I totally recommend this superb book either in Kindle Edition or in the printed book form.

I got the kindle version and love it ! I'm feeling really healthy from just simply drinking 3 quarts + of water a day and 1/4 teaspoon of celtic sea salt per quart of water . I have not used salt in years due to all the talk about it causing high blood pressure . Well at age 78 my bp was usually about 140/81 now it is usually about 124/75 . your body needs lots of water and salt , but not the "white death" table salt with all it's additives ! I was sorry to hear the author passed away at age 70 from pneumonia .

Chronic dehydration is the leading cause of many diseases. This is something overlooked by our medical community. Going years without enough water can cause the cells to shrivel and this causes them to stop doing their job. It's the underlying causes of many illnesses. Then we take pharmaceuticals and never correct the dehydration, leaving us on these pills for the rest of our water deprived lives. Great book to own and remind us how important hydration is.

Since I started to read this book, I have take to a regimen of 10 pints of water per day.The first thing that happened, after I got back from the bathroom was to weigh myself and I see that I LOST 6 pounds in weight after 3 weeks.I have never paid attention to drinking water. I thought it was supposed to be yellow.I used to live on Tums and other antacids, as if they were candy. But now I can't recall the last time that I needed to take one.No more straining or discomfort in the smallest room each morning. Definitely no more Colace or Ducolax.Who knew that a free cup of water could save me $60 on pills and potions.

Doctors have always told me to drink more water. This book informed me on the why and how many problems are solved by merely drinking the same ounces of water as your weight in kilograms. For a 200 pound person that would be about 90 ounces of water a day. The body adapts to the increased amount consumed if I keep at it.

Loved the book! I mean its common sense that you should be drinking water everyday... but you don't really take into account how important it really is. Once i read this book I started drinking more water and am definitely more proactive doing so. This book puts everything into perspective. Everything. Water. I mean who knew?! People kind of think I think that I'm the "water guru" now, but truth really is that if they put down the sugar and picked up the H2O the quality of their lives would vastly improve. I personally have had problems with my skin since I was a teenager... everything from acne to adult acne to rashes... and it was terrible. It definitely took a toll on me emotionally. Once i started drinking the recommended amount of water and than some as well as increasing my salts, my skin took a U turn for the better. I couldn't be happier. They don't tell you to drink more water on labels. Keep it natural baby, and by drinking water everyday I promise you will notice the change. It won't happen over night, but stick with it daily and it will become a habit. Peeing all the time sucks, but i tell you i rather pee all the time than harbor what shouldn't be in my body. READ THE BOOK. Its an easy read, and if you're like me, you won't want to put it down.

This book and the other book Your Body's Many Cries for Water, wind up being the basis of a recent seminar that I conducted for the public in my area. I learned so much about pain and pain receptors, thirst receptors and how the masses really are entrenched in a trap of dehydration and their minds don't even know to register this. We are literally as a social whole, slaves to our inherent biological drought and this doctor knew it!!!! Its here people in basic black and white. Simple and easy to read and understand. Water is the source of life. Lets be alive!!!

Despite the spelling and grammatical errors, and lack of diagrams, there is a wealth of information in this book. For the price of a pack of welding rods, this book is exceptional value. The author has put in effort to describe his techniques together with pros and cons, and is one who has experienced “combat”, and not an “arm chair “ expert as other authors are. A superb book to get you started or a refresher.

Or one, if both are similar. It's an excellent, and very practical, complementary booklet for learners and practiced tiggers. TIG welding has been described as the "Rolls Royce" of welding processes, and the author's explanation of its versatility and superiority over stick and mig made me opt for a tig machine. A sampling, "It can be used on any material, it produces the cleanest and best penetrating welds, and it allows you much more control over how the weld lays down...you have the option of slowing down, using less filler, and working the puddle to achieve the look and size weld you need,...you have control over how much heat is being put into the workplace as well." You have got to read on.

I liked this book after taking a 2 day course at the local collage this just brought everything togeather

This book is just like "Tig Welding Secrets: An In-Depth Look At Making Aesthetically Pleasing TIG Welds", Do Not Buy Both Books.
