I went looking for a book to help me feel at peace and happy again following a very exhausting and difficult year. I felt as though i had lost my direction, my energy, my sense of purpose and my ability to appreciate and enjoy all of the simple pleasures and experiences that used to delight and enrich my life. In short, i felt like I was beginning to take life and everything in it for granted, and nothing i tried made me feel better. I was numb and bored. And then I took a chance on this book and as soon as i started reading it, my life slowly began to regain color, a feeling of lightness and my sense of purpose became clearer and i have genuinely started to feel happier. I'm hesitant to say that this book is for everyone, or that you can expect similar results but then again, happiness is a universal concept and we are all hardwired to pursue and experience it, so perhaps this book should come with such a high recommendation and guarantee for profound transformation after all. Regardless, i can safely say that its a breeze to read because the subject matter is so light in nature, it is eloquently written, exceedingly thoughtful, and the structure is purposefully composed and structured.Bottom line? If you're looking for some light reading that could potentially change the way you see yourself and the world around you, or if you simply want to read something cheerful and wholesome, i can't think of a better recommendation than this book here.

I loved this book. Very insightful and at the same time practical. I love books that speak about goodness, happiness, love and also impart information on how to achieve this peaceful state in one's own life. It speaks about spirituality...which to me translates into being good for goodness sake! It is not teaching based on a particular religious denomination. Sometimes dwelling on religious aspects, while introducing certain concepts, can cause such division and conflict that the message can get lost in the fight of who is right. This book is a gentle read, suggesting ways of achieving happiness without rubbing someone else the wrong way. I have always found something I can relate to when reading a book authored by Deepak Chopra. I was so inspired by this book, I bought a copy for each of my three adult children.

I don't often leave reviews for my purchases and when I do I rarely give the highest rating to any product, book or service, however, this book is probably the only book that anyone needs to Read And Study in order to truly achieve a better life. Having said that, the book would probably only be meaningful to those who have already been exposed to the concepts of Unity and Reality as espoused by Deepak Chopra and others of this genre.

If you want to create change in your life and the lives of others you should read this book. It is an eye opening example of how we limit or increase our happiness through the way we view our surroundings and each other.

I feel this book is self healing. I will read each key for a week (every day of the week) and try apply all its promises.

Excellent easy read book, covering many principles that if followed could very well bring peace to ourselves and the world. very spiritual in nature. Highly recommend. Written by a guru and wise man.

Many are too holistic in their approach, and were of no help to me.This book is superbly written & researched, and presents complex scientific information in layman's terms. Sleep apnea, as well as other sleep disorders, can not only affect the quality of your life, but they can actually be life threatening. We all know that daytime tiredness can lead to all sorts of problems, such as car accidents, problems at work, etc. What many people don't realize is that sleep apnea can lead to premature death, as well as damage to the heart.Recently, I had a sleep study performed at a local hospital. I was shocked when the doctor informed me that my O2 levels had dropped to 70% during episodes where I stopped breathing. When I asked him if this was a serious problem, his response was, 'You could die from this.' I was left in a complete daze when I heard these words.Now, I'm going through the process of trying out different CPAP machines and masks, as well as mandibular advancement devices. Several months ago my dentist recommended I get an occlusal guard telling me I was grinding my teeth in my sleep but didn't offer me any other insights on this. Due to the costs I didn't look into it and unfortunately, my teeth are starting to chip and deteriorate at an alarming rate for someone as ping as myself. Reading this book set off a million light bulbs in my head. I Am convinced that I am suffering from some disordered sleep patterns due to obstructed breathing and it very well may be the ROOT CAUSE of all the health issues I've been trying and often failing to rectify over the past few years. I plan to follow up with my doctor and seek out a sleep study and whatever treatment is nessacary to fix my sleep. This life is too precious and I want to live a meaningful life and help others in this world, but to do that, I'm convinced I need to fix my sleep so I can use my gifts and express my full potential. Yeah, a book on sleep and dental health moved me that deeply: I highly recommend this read if you are someone who is struggling with sleep, energy, mood, or dental health issues. It might just change your whole perspective.

Why did I purchase a book on sleep disorders? I have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and sleep apnea (there may be a correlation). I have been reluctant to treat my sleep apnea for many reasons (who wants to wear a CPAP device?) and thought I could learn more on the topic. However, after reading this book, I am going to meet with my physician once again and more seriously revisit the options for treating my sleep apnea.The book is truly comprehensive in addressing the topic of sleep disorders. It outlines in simple, understandable language the relationship between deep sleep and one’s health and quality of life. It also conveys the serious health dangers of getting insufficient quality sleep.The book recommends several steps to take to determine if one should undertake a formal sleep study. These include asking one’s dentist to perform a simple sleep apnea screening (book provides the questions to ask the dentist!), downloading a phone app that records the sounds that one makes while sleeping, mouth taping, and taking the STOP-BANG Sleep Apnea and Epworth Sleepiness Scale questionnaires .After taking these and other steps, if the reader concludes he needs to participate in a sleep study, the book recommends the specific study to undertake.If after undertaking a sleep study one is actually diagnosed with sleep-disordered breathing, the book outlines in detail various treatment options, along with the pros and cons of each.Reading this book has provided me with the information I need to have a more informed conversation with my doctor on sleep apnea and makes me realize that my delay in treating sleep apnea is truly harmful to my health and well-being.Should any of this resonate with you, I recommend that you purchase this book.

I ordered this book for my husband who has suffered diverticulitis. The diet instructions were totally opposite to what my husband had heard from his GI doctor. We tried to verify the author's qualifications and there was no author information in the book (there is a self instruction on the Amazon page). If a book doesn't have author background, how can we trust the information in the book?

I was very disappointed in this cook book; it had only a few recipes and was not helpful at all. Unfortunately, as far as I and Barnes and Noble can tell, this is the only low residue cook book on the market. Please consider doing a second edition with numerous recipes like a normal cookbook.

Disappointed in the recipes. There should be recipes for different phases. Ex: relapse, remission phases

This book is print on demand so you can't just run out and pick it up. Your local bookstore or major chain will need at least 2 weeks notice, Amazon gets it done in 2 days. Totally perfect!!! It has great information and provides some great recipes. My grandparents were feeling discouraged with the new diet and with this book they have a lot more information and options for both cooking and eating out. It has helped a lot.

Sad that Amazon rating has no stars. No useful guidance in the grim world of low residue when you need helpful information..

I do not know what low residue diet is. This book introduces me to it. The concept is easy. I like the fact that when adapted, there will be lesser changes in my lifestyle. It is only that this book is encouraging me to eat less. That is something I have to curb, my tendency to overeat.

I can't imagine a diet book for IBD and Crohn's disease has Beef, Pork, Lamb, Milk, Sugar recipes. Some of the recipes suggest adding as much as 1 pound sugar. Unbelievable.I am sure this book is written by a ghost writer who is selling using a pen name and does not know anything about IBD.Do not buy. I returned my copy to Amazon.

Very poorly written book with very few recipes. Disappointing. Tons of grammatical errors and incorrect sentence structure. I can’t believe this book was even published. Would never recommend it.

I ordered this for my mom for Christmas as she is a native Washingtonian and loves PNW photography. This book is of excellent quality and the photos are more beautiful in person (a cell phone just can’t do it justice). I enjoyed the fact that the photographer has included almost all areas of Washington State, not just Seattle. There are pictures ranging from Grays Harbor, to the Olympic National Park, to the Palouse. If anyone enjoys the sights of Washington, this would be a great book to have.

I came late to the Linwood Barclay party, but I'm enjoying catching up. I enjoyed the "voice," the story, and the pacing of No Time for Goodbye, although I did have a problem or two with the book over all.This plot is very carefully constructed. Seemingly unimportant objects mentioned casually are mentioned for a reason, and the same holds true for characters. Speaking of characters, my favorite was young Jane Scavullo, a troubled teen with so much potential. I don't know if she shows up in another Barclay novel, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing her again.Now for the two things that rubbed me the wrong way. Quite frankly, I found main character Cynthia Bigge to be a royal pain in the neck. Everything is about her. No one can voice an opinion if it might be "against" her, and she's in real danger of smothering her young daughter. Yes, it's realistic behavior for someone whose family vanished without explanation, but that doesn't mean I have to like her.The other thing that bothered me was the explanation for what actually happened to Cynthia's parents and brother, so I can't say much about it without giving it away. I'll just say that Barclay's solution was a bit over-the-top for me, and I had trouble suspending my disbelief enough to accept it all.But Linwood Barclay can write like a house afire. I love his plots, I love his voice, and just because I didn't like one of his characters doesn't mean I'm going to stop reading his books!

With all the good reviews, I felt sure I would love this book. When it arrived, I was actually excited. Now I am just confused. Why all the 5star revews and glowing phrases? This is a decently written but pedestrian book with no real voice. The characters are flat and unsympathetic and barely held my interest, except maybe Vince. The plot is weak, the atmosphere dull, and the outcome insulting. It wasn't shocking, startling, stunning, or even stupefying except in its stultifying implausibility . I love a 'suburban mystery' novel but this wasnt much of anything. Though you should probably start at the beginning of the series, Promise Me - by Harlan Coben is a much better example. Promise Me (Myron Bolitar, No. 8)

First of all, you have to accept the premise that you can go to bed knowing your mom and dad and brother are in the house, too. Only to wake up and all the beds are made but everyone is gone. Everyone in your family! No one knows what happened and they are ruled missing and you (a teenager) go live with your aunt. Fast forward 25 years, she now is married and has a daughter (these 2 are the most normal and rational in this whole book by the way - I love their banter and interaction + the aunt is so cool). She starts getting messages and mysterious phone messages from someone she believes is her long lost brother and family - you still with me? Ok......great premise for a thriller right? Wrong - it all goes south after that for me. Too much 'Psycho' and crazy for me. And something about slowly watching a woman become so weak minded and acting like she's going crazy really lost me. This was a tough broad who quickly became the gal who slips on something while running-type. Not my cup of tea. I know that I won't pick up this author again, thank you. But if the stuff above turns you on, go for it!

This is the second thriller I've read by Linwood Barclay, and they were both great -- intriguing plot, natural dialogue, interesting characters, twists and an unexpected ending. This book scores on all points. I read it all weekend because I couldn't wait to get an explantion for this bizarre mystery.14-year old Cynthia has had a rough night. It's her first time sneaking out with an older boy, getting drunk, lying to her parents -- yep, Cyn has entered adolescence with a vengeance, and there is a lot of yelling and anger when her dad finds her and brings her home. The next morning Cynthia wakes up to find her entire family is gone -- her mother, father and older brother. Their beds don't even look slept in. So did they just all leave her behind? Or, if somebody killed them, why did they leave her?Twenty five years later, she has her own family -- a loving husband, a precocious 8-yo daughter, and the aunt who raised her. People around her, including her husband, can't understand why she just doesn't move on, but Cynthia is still haunted by the loss and imagines people are following her. Or are they really?The book starts slow, introducing us to these characters and this intriguing premise. It builds steadily, introducing a few new characters, and finishes strong, with a plausible ending.I'll definitely be looking for more books by this author. He writes very well, with an easy narrative voice that pops the occasional zinger.

This was a book club pick, and most of them have been very good. I like psychological thrillers. Cynthia is a 14-year-old who behaved unbelievably bad and had to be rescued by her father. She woke up the next morning to find her parents and brother gone. Both cars are missing. The beds are made, the kitchen has no remanents of breakfast and she left for school, certain that her mother was driving her brother to school. I didn't think the foul language was necessary. It just made the family more unredeemable for me. After reading it for a while, and getting the gist of the plot, I did the unthinkable. I skipped to the end just to finish it. I wasn't enthralled with the book.

3.5 - 4 stars. I’ve read so many fake 5 star reviews that I no longer trust any reviews on Amazon. However I did enjoy this book. And I can honestly say I had not figured out the twists that came towards the end. But I also will say that the action for me really picked up about the 65% mark. I found the perspective from the husband’s point of view refreshing and different. This was as much his story as it was Cynthia’s. The inclusion of Vince Fleming was a sly and clever move on the author’s part. All in all a satisfying read that kept me interested until the end. And Amazon wish you could find a way to vet these over the top 5 stars on books that don’t deserve them.
